2022 Street Improvement Project - Construction Update
Monday, September 12, 2022
Last week, Dresel Contracting, Inc., the contractors for the City of Vadnais Heights 2022 Street Improvement Project, began work at the
Community Park parking lot by reclaiming the existing pavement. Reclaiming is a process that grinds and mixes the asphalt with the rock base below to create a stronger base material for the new asphalt surface.
Beginning the week of September 11, the contractor plans to remove trees that have been marked for removal and will place temporary erosion protection along the edge of the project. Earlier this summer, City staff carefully inventoried the vegetation in the area, making note of dead/diseased trees exhibiting signs of deterioration, as well as invasive species like buckthorn. By removing compromised trees, not only are potential safety hazards addressed, we’re also doing what we can to mitigate the disruption caused by infestations like Emerald Ash Borer.
We also expect utility improvements to begin this week. This work includes replacing bolts on gate valves, replacing gate valves where needed and making improvements to the sanitary sewer and storm sewer structures and pipes in the area. Please note,
if at any time your water is discolored, you should flush your line by leaving your cold water running. Once the line has been cleared, your water should return to normal.
There should always be at least one lane of traffic open, so it should not impact any access to and from the area but please be patient as traffic will be slower. Residents will be notified if their driveway will be blocked or if their water is temporarily shut off.
There will be disruption, so thank you in advance for your patience. Please keep children a safe distance away from activities. Thank you!
