Enjoy Our Parks and Trails
The City of Vadnais Heights boasts more than 100 acres of active parkland spread across 14 parks. Features include play equipment, trails, hard surface areas, picnic shelters, soccer and softball/baseball fields, hockey and pleasure rinks, basketball and tennis courts, and restrooms.

Vadnais-Sucker Lake Regional Park is a prized recreational and scenic amenity. With 1,252 acres of woods and lakes, the park hosts trails, picnic areas, and on-shore fishing. Situated on land owned by St. Paul Regional Water Services, the park is operated by Ramsey County, in cooperation with the City of Vadnais Heights.

A network of trails exists in the City, and it is anticipated that the network will continue to expand. So that the trails may be used year-round, City crews plow key trails after two or more inches of snowfall during winter months.

The goal of parks maintenance is for the system to be attractive and accessible throughout the entire year. A wide-range of maintenance activities are undertaken to meet this goal:
•Clearing of snow from the trails
•Irrigation of the streetscape
•Flooding of ice rinks
•Mowing and weed control of public property
•Grooming of ballfields
•Park Rules
•Trail Saftey

Recreation Programs and Special Events
The Parks and Recreation Department offers an array of programs and special events. Youth benefit from a variety of organized programs, such as soccer, t-ball, dance, tennis, self defense, and playground activities. Adults take advantage of softball and tennis, organized runs, walking and biking trails, and many other opportunities.

Special events are very popular. People flock to Heritage Days, Taste of Vadnais, ice cream socials, craft fairs, and many other activities. In fact, 60 percent of our residents participate in Heritage Days or Taste of Vadnais, according to a survey conducted by Decisions Resources, Ltd. This is the highest rate of participation in community events in the seven-county Twin Cities area.

Senior Programs
Seniors in the local area are invited to join the Vadnais Heights Hi-Lites, an active group of seniors who get together for fellowship and variety of social activities. They meet twice each month, on the second and fourth Wednesdays, at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 3676 Centerville Road. Josephine Christensen is the program coordinator. For information or to get your name on the newsletter mailing list, call City Hall at 651-204-6000.
