The City encourages safe trail usage and recommends these safety guidelines:
- Wear a helmet when biking, skateboarding, or in-line skating.
- Jogging or in-line skating on the roadway is considered illegal if a trail alternative exists.
- Bikes must follow the same road rules as automobiles. Ride with traffic, stop at all signals, yield to pedestrians, and signal turns.
- Face traffic when walking, jogging, or in-line skating.
- Use lights at night, wear reflective clothing, and avoid using devices that block your awareness.
- Don't walk, bike, or play behind parked cars.
- Keep your bike or wheels in good repair.
- Avoid parking on striped shoulders.
- Drivers must yield right-of-way to pedestrians in a crosswalk, marked or unmarked, where no traffic signals exist.
